Texting While Driving
Ok, so for my final blog post I thought I would end with talking about teens who text while driving. At the end of September I got my license. Before this I've had friends who already have their and would drive me around. Depedning on who you're with, some people will ask their friends to respond to their texts. Others on the other hand my decide to take the risk themselves. I'll be honest and say that I've texted while driving before. When I'm at a red light I'll attempt to send a text as quickly as I can. I've even sent texts when stopped for a train. I think as a new years resolution I will try to stop doing these two things, because even though it seems like the perfect time to send a text, no text is worth getting hurt over or losing your life. I know this sounds so dramatic but I really do think it's true. You here so many stories now about teens who get killed or injurred when driving and texting. My dad warns me everytime before I leave the house to not do that, and I really do want to start following though. Reading a message that says "hi" or "k" isn't worth the time. Wait until you reach your destination and THEN respond to the text. I feel the same way about talking on the phone and driving. There's just too many uneccessary distractions that aren't worth the time.

This issue really scares me! I am shocked by how frequently young drivers do this. Did you ever see the Oprah special on texting while driving? This is an important topic to address, and I like your final assessment and New Year's resolution.
