Rumors

Hey guys! Since it's the beginning of the school year I thought I would start off with talking about dealing with rumors. In high school rumors can be the main source of drama. I feel as though many teens thrive off of drama, whether it be their own, or it be someone else's. I have never had a rumor started about me, but I have had close friends that have dealt with this issue. In the beginning it may seem like the worst thing ever. I know many teens (boys and girls) are self conscious and have low self esteems, and having people talking about them will just add on to it. People make rumors and start rumors simply to just create drama. Their on lives may be uneventful or they may just be a bully. Either way, they know what they are doing when they make up a story or spread something untrue about someone. Some advice that I have if you or a friend is dealing with a nasty rumor is to try your best to ignore it. I strongly believe that you are the only one that knows all the truths about you. So if someone feels the need to spread something about you that isn't true, you just need to forget about them. High school drama never lasts. Teens are always awaiting the next big news. what people think and say about you may seem so important right now, but honestly, when you're out of high school, none of that stuff will matter. Focus on the person you are and want to be. What others say about you won't determine who you are, and chances are what was started about you in the first place will be forgotten shortly. Stay true to you, and forget the rest!

  1. Bridget, this is great advice, but I know it must be very hard to follow when you're in the thick of it. I like your suggestion to stay true to who you are and ignore the drama. You're right; teens quickly move on to the next big thing, and rumors have a way of losing their power if people ignore them. A great topic to kick off with!
